Jacqueline had another great day. She was 5th in the barrels. Crafty just didn't fire as hard today, but we still got points for year end. She had an awesome first barrel, so we're happy. She was 2nd in the poles w/ a 21.33. Her end poles were slow, but she kept her shoulders picked up and looked great through them. All in all a great weekend at the WT's. Now we better get to practicing goat tying and breakaway roping if she wants a chance at the All-around saddle.
Jacqueline did great at her first West Texas Rodeo on Sat. She ran to the fence on the first barrel but still ended up 4th with a 16.5. She had a good run in the poles and won it with a 20.9. Great first day! Second rodeo is today, Mothers day.

We will be having a Bake Sale on Friday May 14th from 3-6 in front of the First State Bank in Tuscola to help with the expense of the Finals. Hope to see you there!

From Mom

I don't know yet when Jacqueline will run at the Texas High School Rodeo Finals. I do know she will get her first runs in barrels and poles on Mon. and Tues during the day in slack. Her second run will be during a performance, which could be anytime Wed. thru Friday. The top ten in each event will advance to the final round on Sat. night. Thats what we are shooting for! As soon as I found out her schedule I will post it here.

from Mom

This weekend starts the new West Texas Rodeo Assoc. season. It will go all thru the summer with 2 rodeos every other weekend. Jacqueline will still be in the 13-15 age group. We have so much fun there and look forward to seeing our rodeo friends. This is also the same weekend for Western Heritage in Abilene. I love the Bit/Spur show so we are gonna run up there this afternoon and check it out before we head to Sweetwater for the rodeo. Last year Jacqueline rode my horse Jessie because her mare Crafty had a baby in June. Now that she's back on Crafty she has a really good chance at the All-Around. Maybe we can get Jessie roping this summer so she can rope at them also. The WTRA rodeos start at 9am and Jacq. will run barrels around 10:30-11:00 and poles around 1:30-2:00. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission charge. Sat. she will compete in the indoor arena and Sun. in the outdoor covered arena. Hope to see you there.

On to State

Jacqueline has done exceptionally well her freshman year in high school. She has qualified for the Texas State High School Rodeo Finals in both events she competed in this year. She went into the Regional Finals 14th in barrels and ended up 7th and 10th in poles. She had to really work for it and did great. We are looking forward to the Finals, which will be held in Abilene,Tx. Im glad it's close to home. We are going to be doing fundraisers to help with the expense of Finals. We will keep you updated.
